Please stop bringin' em on

At the risk of causing the earth to implode upon itself, Bush has admitted a mistake. He is now under the impression that his cowboy tough talk was perhaps a tad "inappropriate." Though once again we see that "mistakes were made" but rest assured none of your fearless leaders will be held accountable.
In a joint news conference, Bush said he had used inappropriate "tough talk" -- such as saying "bring 'em on" in reference to insurgents -- that he said "sent the wrong signal to people." He also said the "biggest mistake" for the United States was the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, in which guards photographed themselves sexually tormenting Iraqi prisoners, spawning revulsion worldwide. "We've been paying for that for a long period of time," he said.

Oh I'm sure Gonzales and Yoo got a tongue lashing for that one!

Iraq Turning Point #243

President Bush said today the war in Iraq has reached a "turning point" with the formation of a unity government Saturday in Baghdad, but he suggested the conflict may be far from over.

Of course he did. Just like he said it was turning 3 weeks ago, 5 months ago, 11 months ago, 14 months ago, 16 months ago, 20 months ago, 26 months ago, 30 months ago...

There’s a name for it when you are continually turning. It’s called “spinning.”

As brother Neil Young put it so succintly, the "world is turning, I hope it don't turn away."

It's so easy

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

The letter

4 dead in Ohio - 9 wounded

Never forget - 36 years ago today

It had to be the rulers
They wanted law and order
And they got rich on wanting protection for the status quo

They wanted junkies
They wanted Attica
They wanted Kent State
They wanted war in Indochina

It had to be the CIA and the Mafia and the FBI

Multinational capitalists
Strong armed squads
Private detective agencies for the rich
And their armies and navies and their air force bombing planes
- Allen Ginsberg, 1975
