SNL Live-syncs again and Kerry's in

Now Eminem lowers his mic a few times and yet his voice continues to flow. At best he was backing the live track, but I don't think so.

And the Redskins' loss due to a shady call and lackluster QB skills, just about guarantees a Kerry victory.

Wolves, Lower

The wolves are angry - they were duped!

When the camera crew showed up, we wondered why they were all driving Hummers. Our agent assured us it was a Greenpeace commercial and they paid TWICE our hourly steak rate. Little did we know we were being tricked into this vicious campaign attack ad.

I Like (son of) Ike

Why I Will Vote for John Kerry for President
By John Eisenhower

"Today many people are rightly concerned about our precious individual freedoms, our privacy, the basis of our democracy. Of course we must fight terrorism, but have we irresponsibly gone overboard in doing so? I wonder. In 1960, President Eisenhower told the Republican convention, "If ever we put any other value above (our) liberty, and above principle, we shall lose both." I would appreciate hearing such warnings from the Republican Party of today."

With Ron Reagan, Jr and other Fortunate Sons for Kerry, this administration's days are numbered.

The Rising

Household Survey Sees 100,000 Iraqi Deaths
LONDON -- A survey of deaths in Iraqi households estimates that as many as 100,000 more people may have died throughout the country in the 18 months after the U.S. invasion than would be expected based on the death rate before the war.

There is no official figure for the number of Iraqis killed since the conflict began, but some non-governmental estimates range from 10,000 to 30,000. As of Wednesday, 1,081 U.S. servicemen had been killed, according to the U.S. Defense Department.

Cheesehead for a day

Claim: The outcome of Washington Redskins football games has correctly predicted the winner of every U.S. presidential election since 1936.

Status: True.

The Washington Redskins have proved to be a time-tested election predictor. In the previous 15 elections, if the Washington Redskins have lost their last home game prior to the election, the incumbent party has lost the White House. When they have won, the incumbent has stayed in power.

This election year, that deciding game takes place on Sunday, October 31 ... vs. Green Bay.

Go Pack!!!

Lost in translation

What a delightful headline to see on Google news:
Spitzer's iron wrist shits to music industry

"BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's office now shits their attention to the music industry, particularly its practices for influencing what songs are heard on the public airwaves. "

Finally, the press has decided to stand up for the big record companies!

In other "learn to lip sync" news, Ashlee Simpson had a "soundtrack malfunction" on SNL. Funniest thing I've seen on the show in years. Check out the video.
She then had the audacity to blame the band.

A daily inspiration for us all

"After standing on the stage, after the debates, I made it very plain we will not have an all-volunteer army." —George W. Bush, Daytona Beach, Fla., Oct. 16, 2004

At which point the entire audience corrected him.

Also don't miss the new Jib-Jab cartoon - it is actually good to be in DC.

Had to do it

After hearing the phrase "war of civilizations" uttered twice within minutes by both Ed Koch and "political psychology expert" Stanley Renshon, the chills resurfaced. This is what the "war on terror" has come to? Is there no concern for the fact that Al Qaeda alone is in 80 countries? Now there's suddenly the conservative desire to turn this into an unwinnable global catastrophe?
Wasn't it Pat Buchanan who said (in 2001) that
"President Bush, however, seems instinctively aware such a war would be a disaster. For no matter how many deaths or defeats we inflict, we cannot kill Islam as we did Nazism, fascism, Japanese militarism and Soviet Bolshevism. Islam has survived for nearly 1,600 years; it is the predominant faith in 57 countries; it is indestructible." The fact that I find myself in an agreeable position with Pat-Freakin-Buchanan is not a consolation
